Clothing that behaves as beautifully as it looks
CholaGhar is a small-batch ethnic wear label by Goutami Bansal, built around fabrics that breathe and shapes that hold their line all day.
The label began at home — a single rack of kurta sets sewn for friends who wanted festive clothing that didn't feel like costume. Word travelled the way it does, and within a year we were cutting for women across the country.
Not much about the way we work has changed since. Goutami still signs off every fit, we still cut in small runs, and we still refuse a fabric that looks lovely but wears badly. What has grown is the range: everyday kurtas, co-ord sets, festive suit sets and the occasional Banarasi piece for the days that deserve it.
Fabric first
We start with the weave, not the sketch. Chanderi, muslin, cotton silk and handloom cottons, sourced from weaving clusters we visit ourselves.
Drape over decoration
Every silhouette is draped on a real body before approval. If it doesn't move well, it doesn't ship.
Small batches, honestly priced
Limited runs mean less waste and closer checking. No markdown theatre, no inflated MRPs.
